December 2025 Storm News

Following the severe storm that impacted Ngwenya Lodge on 2 December 2025, we would like to provide you with an update on the current situation. The property sustained extensive damage across several areas. Our on-site teams have been working tirelessly under challenging conditions to clear affected areas, restore access, and ensure the safety of all guests and staff. Despite these constraints, we were pleased to safely welcome guests who checked in later that same week on Friday.

Unfortunately, several large trees were uprooted during the storm, resulting in significant damage to infrastructure and ground areas.

A number of units have also sustained structural damage. At this stage, we are unable to confirm the full extent of the damage, as we are currently awaiting the final assessment from the Quantity Surveyor (QS). Several structural inspections, safety restrictions, and infrastructure repairs remain ongoing.

We would like to assure all Shareholders and guests that the on-site team remains fully committed to stabilising operations and restoring all services as quickly and safely as possible, with safety remaining our highest priority.

For continued updates and official news, please follow our Facebook page, where regular progress reports will be shared.

Bathtub Replacement
Identified damaged bathtubs are being replaced, with block-off schedules coordinated through Reservations to minimise guest disruption. To date, four bathtubs have been replaced.

Tile Replacement

All units have been inspected, and the identified patio walls are being rebuilt to ensure safety while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the exteriors.

Braai Replacement

Rusted braai panels are being identified and replaced to restore functionality and maintain safety in outdoor cooking areas. This is an ongoing project.

Mother’s Day at Ngwenya Lodge was celebrated in a truly enchanting setting. Fairy lights shimmered overhead, yellow and white Chinese lanterns swayed gently, and fresh flowers brought life and warmth to the space. Guests were welcomed with a sweet surprise: doughnuts filled with creamy milk tart, lovingly prepared to make the day extra special and memorable.

Father’s Day at the Lodge combined a festive yet refined atmosphere. Blue and white Chinese lanterns floated above the Reception, creating a cheerful backdrop. Guests were welcomed warmly and presented with handcrafted key holders as a token of appreciation, and arrivals enjoyed a sip of rich Old Brown Sherry to set the tone for the occasion.

Women’s Day
Women’s Day was marked with vintage charm and thoughtful details. Soft fairy lights and delicate umbrellas suspended from the ceiling created a warm, nostalgic glow, while protea blooms, symbols of strength and beauty, were displayed throughout the space. Each guest received a pair of elegant earrings on arrival, making the celebration feel truly special.

Spring Day
The arrival of spring was welcomed with colour and cheer. The Reception came alive with bright umbrellas, vibrant Chinese lanterns, and fresh flower arrangements. Guests were offered a refreshing glass of chilled punch, with or without alcohol, followed by soft serve ice cream to cool down and soak up the joyful spirit of the season.

Heritage Day
Heritage Day at Ngwenya Lodge celebrated Africa’s rich cultural diversity in style. Fairy lights twinkled overhead, and flags from various countries hung proudly, reflecting unity and inclusivity. Guests were greeted with a curated Heritage Box filled with traditional South African snacks, and refreshments, including beer generously sponsored by Hilton Ross, added to the festive atmosphere, making the day a celebration of local traditions.

From the perspective of a long-time Ngwenya Lodge owner,
sharing their heartfelt reflections.

Every time I get to spend my timeshare weeks at Ngwenya Lodge, I’m reminded once again that this truly is a little piece of heaven on earth. I never tire of the lush, well-kept gardens; the chorus of birdlife; the unforgettable wildlife moments unfolding just across the Crocodile River in my beloved Kruger Park; the magnificent sunsets; and the ever-friendly staff who go out of their way to make each stay special. It’s a joy to see families relaxing, laughing, and enjoying the wonderful facilities on offer - all of it adds to the magic of this remarkable place.

Behind the scenes, I have great admiration for the dedicated and professional management team that oversees it all. Their commitment to excellence is evident in every detail - from the smooth running of operations and the constant upkeep of the resort, to the way they lead the staff with passion and pride. It’s clear that Ngwenya’s success is no accident; it’s the result of leadership that truly cares.

As a proud multiple-week shareholder, I take great comfort in knowing that my investment in Ngwenya Lodge is a sound one - something that can’t always be said of many other resorts.

Whenever I arrive and settle into my chalet, I make a habit of looking around carefully to see if there’s anything that might need a little attention. If I notice something, I report it. What never ceases to impress me is not only how swiftly the maintenance team responds, but how professionally and warmly they do it. Their pride in their work is evident, and their positive attitude makes a real difference.

I genuinely believe that taking the time to report small issues helps keep Ngwenya at the exceptional standard we’ve all come to love. It enhances my own experience - and it helps ensure that the next guest enjoys the same high quality we all value.

So, I encourage every visitor and fellow shareholder to do the same. Please also allow the maintenance team to address any issues during your stay, since Ngwenya’s high occupancy limits access for general upkeep.

Let’s all play our part in keeping Ngwenya Lodge truly GREAT - a place where every stay feels like coming home to paradise.
