Manzi Moments
Animal Farm  |   Resort Upgrades   |   New Team Members   |   Holiday Memories   |   Guest Feedback   |   Notices

“We should all find a quiet place, a peaceful space, to bury the chaos and rest for a while.” In the last six months, we have watched how Manzi Monaté has been a peaceful space for our visitors. We have watched families and friends grow closer than when they first arrived, we have heard joy in its purest form coming from children as they run around on the green lawns and we have seen the burden of every day’s hustle and bustle lift off the shoulders of our guests as they relax beside the pool – a tranquil “break-away from it all”. It feels like it was just yesterday when we

were giving you, our valued Shareholders, an update on all the wonderful things that went on at the Resort in 2021. It is almost hard to believe that we are already halfway through 2022 – funny how time flies when you’re having fun. We can only hope that the rest of this year is nothing short of that very same wonder and tranquillity that Manzi Monaté is known for. But before we go on to make more memories together, allow us to fill you in on all that has been going on at your home-away-from-home.

Mallard Ducks

Mallard Ducks
Mallards are “dabbling” ducks, meaning they tip forward into the water feeding on underwater plants. They are wild birds but are incredibly adaptable (which means they can live in different habitats and even around human beings). This also allows them to be easily domesticated like our Mallards at Manzi.
The males have a dark, glossy green head with a bright yellow bill while the females are a dull brown with an orange bill. These markings benefit them because they can blend in with their surroundings when nesting and protect their nests and ducklings from predators and other wildlife.

Donkeys (Jabu & Sophie)

Donkeys (Jabu & Sophie)
These adorably cheeky and stubborn animals are quite social and can become extremely distressed when a close friend has been moved away from them. They are also very intelligent and have excellent memories.
Donkeys look a lot like their equine cousins (horses and zebras) but have long floppy ears that keep them cool.  They are also stockier than their cousins.
Male donkeys, like Jabu, are called jacks and females, like Sophie, are called jennies.

Tortoises

Tortoises
Tortoises have been around for over 200 million years! They can live for over 100 years. One such tortoise was Harriet, a Galapagos tortoise who is said to have originally been looked after by Charles Darwin in 1835 and later arrived at Australia Zoo. She lived there until she died in 2006 at the age of 175 years!
The colour of their shell indicates where the tortoise came from – a lighter shell indicates that the tortoise originally came from a warmer country.

Rabbits

Rabbits
These cute, fluffy creatures are very social animals and are known to be depressed if kept in solitude. They usually purr when they’re content or relaxed and perform an athletic leap when they’re happy - doing kicks and twists mid-air!
A rabbit’s teeth never stop growing, which is why it’s important to make sure they have the correct diet that will help grind their teeth down.

From well-equipped chalets to clean and lavish lawns, the Manzi Monaté Team takes pride in the beauty of the Resort and they have been hard at work to ensure it is well-kept so that you can delight in all of it. These are some of the improvements that have been made since our last catch-up:

Itumeleng joined the Manzi Monaté Team in February of 2022 as a Receptionist. She is a friendly and outgoing person who radiates confidence and has delighted guests at check-in and check-out. She has completed her N4 and N6 in tourism and has also obtained her diploma in Human Resources. Itumeleng is a great asset to the Resort and we welcome her and wish her all the best!

We love a good ‘jol’ here at Manzi Monaté which is why we never pass up the opportunity to celebrate a special occasion or holiday. It brings us great pleasure to share these special moments with our guests.

Christmas Day

Getting into the Christmas spirit is one of the things our Team is excellent at doing. The festive season was even merrier as the staff had their Christmas party two days prior to Christmas Day. On Christmas Day, a braai was held for all guests and it was cheers all around. Gingerbread man biscuits were also baked and decorated by the staff for the guests.

New Year’s Day

Excitement and happiness were the feelings among the Manzi Monaté guests on New Year’s Day. Reception was decorated with balloons and we took advantage of the warm, sunny weather and welcomed the New Year in true South African style – with a braai. The Resort hosted a delectable spitbraai for all our guests.

Valentine’s Day

Love was the order of the day this Valentine’s Day. Reception was transformed into a sea of pink and red balloons and the Manzi Team made sure that guests “felt the love” by gifting them with brownie jars on arrival while cakes with treats were served at the Kiosk area.

Easter

The Manzi Team made sure that Easter was special for all our guests by spoiling them with a special gift filled with all sorts of wonderful Easter treats. We also provided our guests with little bunny cupcakes baked by our Team and hosted an Easter egg hunt which was enjoyed by all our guests – young and old.

Mother's Day

This year’s Mother’s Day was a day fit for queens. The theme was high tea. On arrival, our moms were gifted with beautifully decorated jars filled with mini doughnuts made by the Manzi Team. On Sunday we had a cupcake buffet where all the children could put all their love into decorating cupcakes to gift to their mothers. The fun did not stop there. The Resort hosted a bring-and-braai for all the guests where complimentary pap, sheba and fires were provided to them. A range of Chateau Gateaux cakes were also available for sale to our guests so that they could treat their moms to something special.

In Closing...

It seems like we blinked once and half the year has already gone by. As we prepare for the second half of 2022, we are reminded of the sports concept of a half-time break. A half-time break allows us to reset our strategy for the second half so that we can end things on a high note.

Thank you for taking a half-time break and reflecting with us. We are grateful that you continue to share your ‘Manzi Moments’ with us and we look forward to welcoming you back to create more everlasting memories with us at your home-away-from-home:  Manzi Monaté.

Warm Regards,
