VRS will continue normal operations with strictly enforced protocols and procedures and asks that guests please adhere to these policies to ensure an enjoyable holiday environment for all.

Health and safety remains a top priority

The health and safety of our guests and staff is important to us. As we follow the regulations set out by the government and implement our own COVID-19 safety protocols, know that we remain committed to providing you with the most comfortable stay. We continue to uphold the highest health and safety standards, in line with the government-communicated COVID-19 protocols and recommendations.

1.
The wearing of a mask when entering a public space is mandatory. Accordingly, guests who fail to adhere to this regulation will not be permitted to enter the Resort premises.

2.
There will be hand sanitizers placed in the main areas; as well as in your respective units, which you are encouraged to please use frequently.

3.
Resort common areas are open with limitations to allow for adequate social distancing parameters.

4.
Resort Security will, upon arrival, measure the temperature of each individual occupying the vehicle. Should any occupant's temperature measure above 37.8°C, the vehicle will not be permitted to enter the premises.

Don’t forget your PPE
While the excitement of travelling is in the air, please do not forget your personal protective equipment. While washing your hands thoroughly with water and soap remains one of the best defences against the virus; an equally important protective measure is wearing a face mask to reduce the spread of COVID.

The Department of Health has provided the following vital guidelines that we need to observe regarding the handling of face masks:

• The mask must cover the nose and mouth completely.
• Your face mask should not be lowered when speaking, coughing or sneezing.
• Face masks should not be repeatedly touched.

• A face mask is intended for single-use; reusable or fabric face masks must be washed daily.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after removing your mask.

COVID-19 UPDATE – 01.06.2021
Guests are kindly advised to review the amendments to the Regulations issued in terms of section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Government Gazette as on 30 May 2021) applicable to adjusted Alert Level 2, as issued in a statement on the 30th of May 2021 by President Cyril Ramaphosa. VRS-Managed Resorts will continue to abide by these government-enforced regulations while striving to provide an enjoyable holiday environment for all our guests. A range of additional health and safety measures continues to be upheld onsite to aid the plight in minimising the transmission of COVID-19. With this in mind, we advise all guests to be in touch with their relevant Resort directly for assistance with any specific regulation clarification, as these regulations may impact facility operating hours or excursions.

VRS-Managed Resorts continues to strive towards providing a safe and enjoyable holiday environment for all our guests. Strict health and safety protocols remain in effect, as per amendments to the Regulations issued in terms of section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Government Gazette as on 01 February 2021) applicable to adjusted Alert Level 3. With this in mind, we advise all Resort guests to be in touch with the relevant Resort directly for assistance with any specific regulation clarification, as these regulations may impact facility operating hours or excursions. We ask that each individual adhere to social-distancing, sanitises their hands regularly and dons a mask (which covers the nose and mouth), while making use of public spaces.

COVID-19 OUTBREAK UPDATE – 11.01.2021
Kindly take note of the below update with regards to the latest State of the Nation Address by President Cyril Ramaphosa:

VRS-Managed Resorts will continue normal operations with strictly enforced protocols and procedures, as per amendments to the Regulations issued in terms of section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Government Gazette as on 11 January 2021) applicable to adjusted Alert Level 3. We kindly ask Resort guests to maintain social-distancing parameters, to sanitise hands regularly and to wear a mask (which covers the nose and mouth) when making use of public spaces. Please note that the sale or consumption of alcohol in public spaces at any VRS-Managed Resort is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, to abide by the new curfew, put into effect from midnight on the 28th of December 2020, all facilities will be closed at 20:00 each night. For more information, kindly be in touch with the relevant Resort directly.

COVID-19 OUTBREAK UPDATE – 21.09.2020
As announced in the presidential address on the 16th of September 2020, South Africa will be moving to level 1 of the level 5 risk-adjusted strategy as of Thursday, 1st of October 2020. This announcement means that there will be further easing of restrictions on certain economic activities, including the opening of international travel for business and leisure. Please take note that international travel will be subject to various containment and mitigation measures as per amendments to the Regulations issued in terms of section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 applicable to Alert Level 1.

We, VRS, are thrilled at the prospect of being able to welcome back international travellers for a great holiday again. Although restrictions on travel will be eased, kindly note that the health and safety protocols, particularly the wearing of masks, frequent sanitisation etiquette’s and maintaining social distancing parameters will remain in place for the safety of guests and staff members. COVID-19 OUTBREAK UPDATE – 18.08.2020
VRS is thrilled to announce, that as per the latest Government Gazette, inter-provincial leisure travel has been approved. For this reason, the VRS-Managed Resorts will be opening for leisure to welcome all domestic leisure travellers.

On Saturday, 15 August, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that South Africa would be moving from alert level 3 to alert level 2 (as of Tuesday, 18 August). Among the changes that will be implemented, the restrictions on inter-provincial leisure and travel have also been lifted.

Rest assured that our dedicated VRS-Managed Resort Teams will continue to comply with government’s industry-specific stringent controls and measures, as well as our own health and safety protocols to provide you with a safe and comfortable holiday environment. We look forward to welcoming you and your loved ones to our Resorts for a much deserved holiday as we create even more everlasting holiday memories.

INTRA-PROVINCIAL LEISURE TRAVEL IS OPEN – 03.08.2020
VRS is elated to announce that, as per the latest Government Gazette, intra-provincial leisure travel has been approved. For this reason, the VRS-Managed Resorts are open for leisure travellers who reside in the respective province of the Resort they would like to visit.

As we work to prepare all of the Resorts under our portfolio, rest assured that our dedicated teams will comply with the government’s industry-specific stringent control and measures, as well as our own health and safety protocols to provide you with a safe holiday environment. Further updates will be provided with regards to inter-provincial travel as soon as information is supplied by the Department of Tourism.

COVID-19 OUTBREAK UPDATE – 13.07.2020
With the increase in COVID-19 cases in South Africa and the recent surge within Gauteng, the government has issued more stringent regulations in terms of amendments to the Regulations issued in terms of section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 applicable to Alert Level 3 (“Regulations”). Kindly be advised that due to this most recent presidential address and the new regulations to be enforced, that leisure travel is not permitted under level 3 regulations. Please understand that in the best interest and safety of our guests, as well as our staff, and to ensure we abide by the South African lockdown laws, we have had no choice but to suspend the occupation of VRS Managed Resorts for intra-provincial leisure travel purposes. We have also been advised that government may look to re-engage with the tourism industry about the possibility of opening accommodation facilities again for intra-provincial leisure purposes. We hope and trust that this will happen within the next month. We thank you for your ongoing support and will provide an update as soon as further information becomes available.

COVID-19 OUTBREAK UPDATE – 18.06.2020
On the eve of Wednesday, 17 June 2020, the nation was addressed on further developments concerning South Africa’s risk-adjusted strategy in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. In the presidential address, President Cyril Ramaphosa stated - after further discussions with industry representatives on stringent prevention protocols, consultation with Premiers and advice from scientists - the Cabinet has decided to ease alert level 3’s restrictions on certain other economic activities. This, amongst other things, includes accredited and licensed accommodation - which will soon be in effect. As we wait for further announcements with respect to the specifics regarding the stringent safety requirements that have been agreed on, know that your VRS Managed Resorts have already taken all the necessary measures to ensure your health and safety upon your return.

We are thrilled by the news that leisure travel will soon, once again, be one of the boxes you can tick off on your agenda. Please do know that our VRS Managed Resorts Teams are working assiduously in these coming days to ensure everything is perfect for you and your family, to once more, have an enjoyable holiday. We hope to have further details to share soon with regard to the provincial travel restrictions being lifted in order to make a more detailed announcement of our VRS Managed Resorts reopening. NO RESORT OCCUPATION DURING LOCKDOWN – 25.05.2020
Last night, on the 24th of May 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the South African people with plans to slowly reopen the economy by phasing into level 3 of the 5 level risk-adjusted strategy from the 01st of June 2020. While this is a step in the right direction to return to normal operations, kindly note that, as part of the tourism and hospitality sector, our Resorts will remain closed to the public. South African Tourism Minister, Nkhensani Kubayi-Ngubane, has informed the sector that lodging and accommodation must remain closed, under government regulation, until the phasing in of level 1.

VRS remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for members and guests to return to and will continue to monitor the on-going communications to reopen the tourism sector sooner.

This will mean that all resorts will only, at this stage, allow check-ins after the lockdown period.

We however humbly ask for your patience in regards to our service levels as we navigate this challenging time together. Should our call centres be strained and are unable to timeously reach us telephonically, please feel free to send us an email on correspondence@vrs.co.za for club enquiries or propertyadmin@vrs.co.za for resort enquiries so that we can attend to you.

Government has ordered South Africans to stay at home except for essential purposes and has ordered all non-essential services to suspend operations up until Thursday, 16 April 2020. This will mean that all resorts will only, at this stage, allow check-ins from Friday, 17 April 2020.

The lockdown is necessary to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus and to disrupt its chain of transmission and we are therefore in the unfortunate position where we have to cancel holidays during this time. We will do our best to accommodate you at a future date and invite you to contact us in regards.

From Thursday, 26 March 2020, our staff will be able to offer limited service levels from home and our call centres and correspondence departments will be partially open to assist you over the lockdown period. We however humbly ask for your patience in regards to our service levels as we navigate this challenging time together. Should our call centres be strained and are unable to timeously reach us telephonically, please feel free to send us an email on correspondence@vrs.co.za for club enquiries or propertyadmin@vrs.co.za for resort enquiries so that we can attend to you.
